Dehydration the enemy of the fat girl

Another week has come and gone and I have not lost one more pound! Grr! I was sick for 5 days with a nasty tummy bug, hardly ate a thing, could barely drink and couldn't hold anything in! Went to the dr and weighed in 5 lbs less however it was mostly because I was super dehydrated and once I got rehydrated all the weight came right back! Boo
 
I learned something beneficial from the doctor though! She asked me about my caffeine consumption and of course I talked to her about my addiction to Diet Dr Pepper!  She told me how caffeine steals water from my body and my muscles etc and for every 20 oz I drink I have to drink 40 oz of water just to replenish what the caffeine stole.
We talked about how it slows your metabolism that its whats probably making me achy because I am not drinking enough water to compensate.  Interesting! Since I have been sick all week I haven't had any of my sweet caffeinated goodness in 6 days! So my challenge this week is to stay away from Diet Dr Pepper and see how I feel this time next Sunday!
 
I know from experience drinking enough water is vital in not only health but weight loss!  This week I AM going to drink my water! ALL of it!  I have been guzzling the past 2 days trying to get rehydrated so Im already off to a good start!
 
The problem I have with weight loss right now is i get these drastic ideas and make drastic plans and then end up failing in 2 days.  We made the decision quite a while ago that we wanted to go Paleo but for some reason even when we make great meal plans and buy great groceries we always end up eating ice cream or my dad who works for a chip distributor brings over an ungodly amount of chips IE the 2 bags of cheese puffs that are as big as my kids (by the way I totally just stopped and walked those nasty things to the trash, yay)
 
This week instead of saying we are going to work out every day and we are going to only eat fruits and veggies all week I am making a few easy challenges for our family!
Drink enough water every day! No Soda, No Chips & No Sugar and work out 3x!

  1. I had gone for a facial once and the woman told me the secret to great skin was just tons of hydration from the inside. She also told me the whole whatever you drink in caffeine you must drink double water. I didn't listen.

    Good luck with no soda. I also am trying to give it up, but am having such a hard time.

  2. Such a great post. I have been SUPER frustrated with my lack of weight loss and I totally agree with the water factor. Definitely not drinking enough.

  4. I gave up caffeine a while ago and although I sneak a cup on days I just can't seem to go without it, it does make a big difference. This is a great motivational post! :)
