Painting with Water

I saw a post somewhere on pinterest that had kids painting with water and i thougth how boring! My kids wont like that?
I was wrong! They actually had more fun painting with just water on the porch than anything because it dried and disappeared and they could start all over!  Which proves free fun is almost always more fun than anything we buy.  At least for my kids it is!

We also made some homemade paint with just a random mix of flour, a lil corn starch, water and food coloring.
Made it pretty thin but and the corn starch helped the texture.
I first attempted to have them color on paper but they had much more fun doing it on the ground!
They had fun with that too!

  2. Ooo, good idea to have them colour on the ground! Way less mess to clean up. Have you ever done vanilla pudding painting with your kids? Just add a bit of food colouring, and let them go to town!

Btw, found you at the TGIF bloghop, and am now following you via facebook and here!

  3. When my kids were 10,3 and 1 we decided to move out and renovate our house all at once. The only place nearby was a 400sq ft cottage. It was only for a month or 2, so...and then the construction started. It was 15 months before we moved back in to our (now perfect) 2500 sq ft home. I became the expert at coping. Guess what the favorite activities for my toddlers? #1 was painting. Ever morning (yes) they took a bucket of plain water outside with a big paintbrush. They "painted" the fence. Since it was natural wood, it became dark wherever they painted. Every afternoon they had the second favorite activity: they took a bucket of sudsy water and a giant sponge outside and "washed" their playhouse. I don't know how I got away with it. I must have lucked out with some easily entertained toddlers. By the time we moved back home they had a new baby brother to play with and gave up painting and cleaning for awhile.

  4. Looks like fun! My daughter loves painting in her coloring books but this would be a neat way to switch it up for her.

  6. I wonder if I could convince my eight-year-old that painting with water IS fun! I know my four-year-old would go for it. Very cute.
